On Friday, Jan. 10, the William Floyd High School was placed on a lockdown at 1:42 p.m.
The Suffolk County Police Department responded and conducted a sweep of the building and found no threat.
“We believe the lockdown announcement may have been caused by a malfunction in the system,” district officials said. “However, we are still working to determine the exact cause. Once that is known, we will share it with the community immediately.”
The police department also confirmed that the lockdown, which was lifted at 2:07 p.m., was due to an accidental alarm.
Additionally, as a result of the high school dismissal occurring later, busing home was delayed in all buildings at the middle schools and elementary schools that day.
