Veterans Day ceremonies

This Thursday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day. Town offices and schools will be closed for the holiday. To honor those who have served, many local organizations are hosting ceremonies. Compiled here are local ceremonies happening in the area.

 

Rusy-Bohm American Legion Post 411

This post has been located behind Islip Town Hall since 1932. It takes its name from two town residents who were former members of the Islip Fire Department.

Bay Shore American Legion Post 365 & AMVETS Post 76

According to their website, the American Legion Organization is a “patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.” It was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919.

American Legion Post 1738

American Legion Post 1738 meets the second and fourth Tuesday each month at 7:30 p.m.

AMVETS Post 18

AMVETS is open to and fighting for all who honorably served in the United States military, including the Reserve and National Guard. With more than 250,000 members nationwide, AMVETS is veterans serving veterans.
