East Islip
East Islip’s budget passed with a vote of 1,678 to 653.
All propositions passed; Proposition 2 (Capital Reserve Fund) passed by a vote of 1,642 to 659, while Proposition 3 (Student Transportation; Child Safety Zone) passed by a vote of 1,552 to 760, and Proposition 4 (Student Transportation; Change in Ridership Eligibility) passed by a vote of 1,380 to 903.
Incumbent candidate Timothy Sassone was re-elected to the Board of Education. Sassone received 1,842 votes, while challenger Nichelle Rivers received 411 votes.
Islip
The Islip School District’s 2025-2026 budget passed, with residents casting 1,141 yes votes to 380 no votes.
Proposition 2 for the use of Capital Reserves passed by a vote of 1,209 to 294. This proposition will fund a new playground at Wing Elementary School, a new greenhouse at the high school, abatement of deteriorating asbestos containing materials in the Wing Elementary Custodial office, plus high school plumbing upgrades and a retaining wall in the basement.
For the Board of Education, voters re-elected trustee Matthew Clareen, who has been on the Board since 2016 and ran unopposed. Clareen received 1,009 votes. For the open seat held by trustee Danielle Flora, who did not seek reelection, Kristin Presti received 770 votes and Hilary Crowe Breig received 682 votes.
Bay Shore
Bay Shore’s budget passed with 858 votes yes, and 282 votes no.
Incumbent candidate Andrew A. Arcuri was re-elected for a second term with 693 votes, while challenger Sarah Haugland received 412 votes. Arcuri has served on the board since 2004.
West Islip
On May 20, West Islip’s budget was approved with 1,502 votes yes, and 503 votes no.
Additionally, Proposition 2: Use of Capital Reserve, was approved with 1,507 votes yes, and 468 votes no. The proposition will fund electronic locks and card access readers for classrooms and bathrooms in the high school.
Four candidates ran for three seats on the Board of Education. Grace Kelly received 1,175 votes, Christina Marks received 1,143 votes, and Thomas McCann received 1,124 votes. All three were elected to the board. Candidate Thomas Pastore received 1,066 votes.
