UPDATE: Man arrested for murder in his North Bay Shore home

UPDATE, APRIL 16:

Police on Friday arrested Darren Mansfield, 22 of North Bay Shore, for the murder of Frania Espinal.

Mansfield, who lives at the home on Hecksher Avenue, was charged with Murder in the Second Degree, a felony.  He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday, April 17, at First District Court in Central Islip.

Suffolk Police are conducting an investigation after a missing woman was found dead inside a North Bay Shore home, police announced Thursday.

Reports said Frania Espinal, 22, of Dix Hills, was reported missing on April 12. Homicide Squad and Second Squad detectives conducted an investigation into her whereabouts. 

Detectives found Espinal dead inside a home located at 1797 Heckscher Avenue on April 14 at approximately 1:30 a.m.

The home is located roughly half a mile east of Sagitkos Parkway and roughly 1.2 miles from Hemlock Park Elementary School, located in the Brentwood Union Free School District. 

An autopsy will be conducted to determine Espinal’s cause of death. Detectives are asking anyone with information on Espinal’s death to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
