Nordstrom Rack coming to Bay Shore

In Bay Shore, a new retailer is joining the likes of Barnes & Noble, Target, and HomeGoods at Gardiner Manor Mall: Nordstrom Rack. The incoming business is scheduled to open this spring, and construction is already underway for the 24,000-square-foot store.

Nordstrom Rack, the off-price retail division of Nordstrom Inc., offers customers up to 70 percent off on-trend apparel, accessories, beauty, home and shoes from many of the top brands sold at Nordstrom stores.

“We look forward to opening this new Nordstrom Rack location in Bay Shore, strengthening our network of stores and introducing new customers to Nordstrom Rack’s unique product offering,” said Carl Jenkins, senior vice president of Nordstrom Rack stores. “In addition to shopping great brands at great prices, our customers in Bay Shore can take full advantage of this convenient new location to pick up online orders and make returns.”

Gardiner Manor Mall, which is ideally located off of the Sunrise Highway, just east of the Robert Moses Causeway, is owned and managed by Kite Realty Group Trust. The store is being constructed in the space that was formerly Staples.

“The highly sought-after brand and its high-quality offerings will be a perfect addition to the center’s attractive merchandising mix,” explained Gregory Goldberg, VP, leasing, at Kite Realty Group Trust.

The popular discount outlet coming to Bay Shore marks the company’s return to Suffolk County after a three-year hiatus. A Nordstrom Rack had previously been open in Huntington Station adjacent to Walt Whitman Mall, but to the dismay of its customers, the location closed its doors the spring of 2021. Among those former customers is Islip resident Kristen Carter, who is excited to see Nordstrom Rack returning to Suffolk County, even closer to home.

“I think for a long time the community has not had a lot of options for places to shop, so I think there is a void that will definitely be filled by this,” shared Carter. “I am happy to see something coming, rather than another thing closing up.”

With the closest current Nordstrom located in Garden City at the Roosevelt Field Mall, and the closest Nordstrom Rack located across from the mall in Gallery at Westbury Plaza, it is no wonder residents of the Town of Islip are so delighted by the incoming store.

“It’s the best place for deeply discounted premium denim, name-brand shoes and accessories,” explained former Islip resident, Victoria Kearns Grancarich. “I am a personal stylists, and I always take my clients to Nordstrom Rack.”

“When I heard it was coming to Bay Shore, I was super excited to have a quality store in our neighborhood,” shared Kimberly Hurt of Bay Shore. “I feel a lot of times our community is overlooked by major retailers and having Nordstrom Rack is definitely a win for us!”
