Honor Betty White with a donation to the Town of Islip Animal Shelter

To honor what would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday on Jan. 17, Islip Town supervisor Angie Carpenter, along with town councilmen Jorge Guadron and Jim O’Connor, announced that the Town of Islip Animal Shelter will be joining the Betty White Challenge. The challenge went viral on social media and asks residents to mail $5 to the animal shelter. Checks can be mailed to Islip Animal Shelter, 200 South Technology Drive, Central Islip, NY 11722. The shelter asks that you indicate ‘Betty White Challenge’ with the donation. Residents can also purchase an item from the Islip Animal Shelter Amazon wish list by visiting https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2VJHWPUIHAZE2?. Items on the wishlist include food, supplements, and flea prevention products. The shelter is also highlighting its senior pups such as Noah and Allie, who, despite being siblings, were named after the characters from the film “The Notebook” because of how bonded they are.
