Sponsorships are now available for the third annual Take a Veteran Fishing Trip hosted by The Great Gun Anglers. The trip will take place on July 23 this year and usually brings about 50 veterans out.
Last year, the event was a huge success, said president Evan Goldstein, noting everyone caught a fish; but the highlight was Mike Flynn and his team catching a 413-pound thresher shark.
Directly following the trip, there will be a barbecue for those who participate at 3 p.m. at the Union Avenue Dock. All the bait will be donated by Harts Cove Bait and Tackle and the entire trip will be made possible by the Moriches Chamber of Commerce and private donations.
