Grand opening success!

On Wednesday, Sept. 8, the Long Island Authors Group bookstore celebrated its grand opening in the Islip Arts Council Gallery at the South Shore Mall.

The event featured food and drink, with lots of visitors milling about the store to check out the wide selection of books by local authors. The genre of books available was astounding, with everything from children’s books to religious books.

This is the Long Island Authors Group’s first permanent bookstore opening and a great location for it, as it is the only bookstore in the South Shore Mall. Because of the success of the bookstore and added interest, the Islip Arts Council has decided to expand their hours. The gallery is now open Tuesday – Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday, 1 to 6 p.m.

The Long Island Authors Group is a community of authors of published books who work to promote the Long Island writing community and the availability of their works.

The Islip Arts Council Gallery is located in the Westfield South Shore Mall at 1701 Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore. The easiest way to enter is through Dick’s Sporting Goods on the north side of the mall.
