This holiday season, while buying gifts for family and friends, be sure to make some time to help support local food pantries and organizations collecting items to help others. Right here in Sayville, the Chestene M. Coverdale Food Pantry helps families and individuals struggling with food insecurity in Oakdale, Sayville, Bayport, Blue Point and Bohemia. Right now, the food pantry, located at 47 Gillette Avenue, is in need of cereal, peanut butter, jelly, soup and dry goods. Bread and other perishable items can be taken directly to the food pantry during their operating hours from 9:30 a.m. to noon: Tuesdays through Thursdays. Grocery store gift cards are also always appreciated.
