Connetquot baseball reveled in a prosperous 2025 season, earning a Suffolk County championship victory.
During the ’25 spring campaign, the Thunderbirds finished in first place in Suffolk County League II, with a 16-2 league record and a 17-3 overall record. They won their first 10 regular-season games, then fell to Smithtown West by one run in late April.
During all their victories, six games were walk-off wins and in some contests, the T-Birds scorched their opponents, winning 11-2 and 11-0 vs. Lindenhurst, a 14-0 shutout over Bay Shore, and a 14-2 throbbing over Ward Melville.
Connetquot won the first round of the playoffs, vs Northport, on May 21, fell to Sachem North in the following game on May 24 with the double-elimination playoff format, then won a neck-and-neck skirmish vs. the Pat-Med Raiders 2-1 two days later.
The following day, the Thunderbirds had a pulsating 12-1 victory over the Longwood Lions, took down Smithtown East 2-1, then avenged Sachem North, beating them in back-to-back days in the double-elimination playoff to win the Suffolk County AAA championship.
The T-Birds shut out Sachem, 7-0, on Saturday, May 31, then edged Sachem by a run, 3-2, to eliminate Sachem North and take the Suffolk County Class AAA 2025 crown at Middle Country Athletic Complex. Connetquot fell to Massapequa in the Long Island championship on Sunday, 7-0.
Numerous awards were given out to Connetquot varsity players after their impressive season. Shortstop Jagger Addamo was named League II MVP, and infielder and pitcher DJ Filippone was named all-county.
Dylan Wilkinson, Mike Empaynado, Andrew Amarando, and Brandon Bartick were entitled all-league, and Joe Scarabino earned Academic All-League honors. The center-fielder Amarando also took home a Gold Glove award.
