Boy Scouts create memorial at VFW post

Members of Boy Scout Troop 184 in Sayville created a silhouette of a soldier praying while standing next to a cross outside the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 433 on Lakeland Avenue.

“I was proud to recognize Malcolm Merced and Finn Shea, Scouts from BSA Troop 184 in Sayville, for leading the Praying Soldier Project at VFW Post 433,” State Sen. Alexis Weik said. “As part of their Star Scout requirements, they planned and installed a permanent silhouette memorial of a soldier in prayer beside a battlefield cross, which represents a meaningful, long-lasting tribute to support and honor all our servicemen and women—past, present, and future.”
