To commemorate the 117th anniversary of the groundbreaking of the Village of Brightwaters and honor the history and serene beauty of the village, the Brightwaters Art Council (BAC) and Brightwaters Historical Society will host a joint art and history exhibition on Monday, July 8.
The presentation and exhibition will be held at 6 p.m. in the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Library.
“We are excited to host Gabrielle Manthos-Gomez, who will deliver a presentation on the origin story of the Village of Brightwaters and speak on T.B Ackerson and his vision for the village,” shared Mike Greve, marketing director of the Brightwaters Historical Society.
In addition to the display of artifacts, memorabilia, and maps, “The Beauty of Brightwaters” art exhibition will be on display, capturing the beauty, charm, and essence of the Village of Brightwaters. About 18 artists created over 30 original pieces with the village as their subject.
“We have had an excellent response from our participating artists, which includes a mix of local artists who live in Brightwaters and some of whom live outside of the Brightwaters area but came to visit our town, beaches, and parks as inspiration for their work,” said Danielle Livoti, president of the Brightwaters Art Council.
During the reception on July 8, artists Syd Glasser, Peter D. Rettaliata, and Todd M. Schumacher will share a few words about their art and inspiration for the show.
Mamma Santina, The Brightwaters Inn, Sea Levels, Dulce de Leche Cake Shop, and the Brightwaters Deli will generously join in on the celebration by providing refreshments and light fare.
The exhibit will also be on view for the full month of July and can be viewed during regular library hours.
