Woman dies in East Islip house fire

EAST ISLIP– Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating a fatal fire that occurred In East Islip early this morning.

Third Precinct police officers responded to 27 Washington Avenue, at 2:12 a.m., after a 911 caller reported a fire at that location, according to authorities. Six residents were in the home at the time of the fire.

Laurie Addeo, 61, a resident of the home, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The victim’s husband, his mother and three tenants (a man, a woman and their 10-year-old son) all escaped the residence unharmed.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the fire to be “non-criminal in nature”, officials added.
