ISLIP TOWN—Beginning at 8 a.m. last Saturday, lines formed outside the Optimum Store at the Westfield South Shore Mall in Bay Shore for an opportunity to have a photo taken sitting on a throne. And not just any throne, mind you; this one is straight from the set of the ever-popular HBO series, “Game of Thrones.” The Dragonstone Throne at the mall was only one of several that are featured in the series, now in its eighth and final season.

As the day went on, the lines continued to grow longer. Some of those queued were even in costume. “It’s great,” said Eric Zimmerman, who manages the Optimum Experience Center at the mall.

Zimmerman said the store, which sells Optimum products and services, first opened in February 2017 and has since provided a number of fun things to do and see that are free and open to the general public. “We have community events all of the time,” he said, noting that only recently there was a visit from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

However, not even the Ninja Turtles could match the excitement generated by the throne.

Chuck Sapone and his daughter, Amanda, (pictured above) weren’t in costume, but they were very excited for the opportunity to see the throne. The avid fans of the show are residents of Seaford. “We traveled many miles to sit on the throne,” Chuck said.
