WEST ISLIP – Suffolk County Police rescued a suicidal teen that jumped from the bridge portion of the Robert Moses Causeway early Sunday morning. Marine Bureau officers responded to a report of a woman who jumped into the water from the west side of the bridge at 4:00 a.m.

Officer Joseph Riviello drove the boat underneath the bridge and officers used a spotlight to locate the woman, who was holding onto a pylon in the water, according to a SCPD press release. Officers John Sheehan and William Houst were able to pull her safely into the boat and bring her back to shore.

The 18-year-old woman was transported by West Islip rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for evaluation.
