BAY SHORE—Bay Shore girls track picked up some serious wins for the first three meets of the spring season.

The first was held on March 26, the Ross Goldin Meet, which was a real success, with 16 teams competing. The 4x400 meter walk relay of Lauren Swanson, Amy Schlussler, Casey Mattfeld and Sara Farnan won with a time of 7:44.4. Lauren Swanson placed second in the 800-meter walk with a time of 3:50.3. Sara Farnan was fourth, walking 4:07.2, Amy Schlussler was sixth (4:10.9), Megan Farnan placed ninth (4:23.1) and Casey Mattfeld was 10th (4:24.9). Erica Martinez was fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.9). Eighth-grader Lexi Grassia was fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.5. Eighth-grader Rebecca Christie won the novice high jump, clearing 4’4”.

On March 31, Coach Andres Borromeo picked up his first girls track victory with a win over Central Islip, 115-39.

Aviana Goode won both the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump. Sofia Trifoli, Ally Peck, Sydney Carpenter and Catie Surian took the first four places in the 1500-meter run. Nia Singer and Hannah LaForce went 1-for-2 in the 400 and were second and third in the 200.  Falan Boyd placed second in the 100-meter dash. Elisabeth Barnett, Lauren Swanson and Sara Farnan went 1-2-3 in the 1500-meter walk. Caelyn Reilly, Anna Pirkl and Lexi Grassia swept the 800-meter run. Erica Martinez and Brianna Bolden went 2-for-3 in the 400 hurdles. Mafalda Brown, Imo Aghomon and Kayla Christie went 1-2-3 in the shot put. Kaylah Napolitano, Christie and Aghomon went 1-2-3 in the discus. Elisabeth Barnett won the pole vault. Sydney Tyler was second in the long jump and Victoria Obasa was third in the triple jump.

Kamesha Miller, Bridget Kanaley, Anna Pirkl and Caelyn Reilly won the 4x400. Marlee Lopez, Maggie Barbiero, Maila Fowler and Sophia Trifoli won the 4x800-meter relay.

Then on April 5, Bay Shore defeated Lindenhurst, 95-39, to remain undefeated with a 2-0 record. The temperature was in the 30s, with a strong wind, making the conditions terrible to try and get any good performances. Aviana Goode won the 100 hurdles with a very quick time of 14.5, which is the fastest time on Long Island this season. Goode also won the high jump, clearing 5’2”. 

Elisabeth Barnett won the pole vault clearing 7’0”, and also her specialty, the 1500-meter walk. Her time was 8:24.2, tying with Lauren Swanson. Ally Peck won the 1500-meter run with a seasonal best of 5:20.2. 

Mafalda Brown won the shot put, with a toss of 33’9”. Kaylah Napolitano won the discus with a throw of 74’11”. Bridget Kanaley won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.3 and freshman Cheyenne Felician won the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best of 79.8. Ashley Navas won the 3000-meter run with a time of 12:56.0.
