Town launches online Planning and Development Application Portal

Town supervisor Angie Carpenter, members of the Islip Town Board, along with planning commissioner Ela Dokonal and IT director Doug Miller, are pleased to announce the soft launch of the Islip’s new digital applications portal, www.planning.islipny.gov. This online tool offers a convenient platform for the public to access property information, file applications, and check the status of applications from home, the office, or on-the-go.

This soft launch of the new portal currently allows residents to digitally apply for select building permits, including new and/or additions to accessory structures; change of tenant; interior alterations; solar panels, and many more.

“Our goal has always been to improve the way residents, businesses, and stakeholders interact and do business with our town. This online Planning and Development Portal is a leap forward in the modernization of our services, and will revolutionize the way the public applies for and tracks applications,” said Carpenter.

Participation in the launch is easy. Simply visit www.planning.islipny.gov and follow the instructions to create an account. After registering, the public will have access to submit applications and interact with current available features. Additional enhancements, along with new features, will be coming soon.

“This is an important step forward for the Planning and Development Department, enabling residents to access information and submit applications at the click of a button. This system will streamline and speed up the permitting process. We are thrilled to launch it to the public, and continue to provide new features moving forward,” said Dokonal.

The new www.planning.islipny.gov portal comes alongside the launch of Islip Town Square, a one-stop shop for the Town of Islip’s most accessed webpages and services. Users can access this hub, which includes the new Online Planning Portal, via www.islipny.gov/town-square.
